I'm hoping that someone has information about my family. My Grandfather was the chief of police in Los Reyes, Michoacan, Mexico in the the late 1930's or early 1940's. His name was Jesus Abarca. His father was Alberto Abarca. That's as far as I've gotten with my genealogy. Unfortunately, my Grandfather passed away earlier this year after a long battle with Althzeimer's. My Grandmother (Juanita Higareda) died suddenly of heart failure, about seven years ago. My Grandparents were first cousins. I have one great uncle that is still alive and I hope to interview him soon. For now, this is all I have. Here is some brief family history about my grandparents that might sound familiar to a distant cousin. My Great Grandfather (Alberto Abarca) accidently shot himself while drunk. My other Great Grandfather (Father of Juanita Higareda) was killed by Pancho Villa's soldiers when she was about two years old. My Grandfather was also there that day, but he and my Grandmother were saved by the women that escaped while the men in the ranch were killed. When my Grandfather was a young man, in his early 20's, he was appointed chief of police by the newly elected Mayor of Los Reyes. This happened because my Grandfather had successfully campaigned for the new Mayor. I have been told that the city hall in Los Reyes was built at that time and that there is a plaque dedicating the building which has my Grandfather's name on it, with his title: Chief Of Polce. I've not been there yet, but I do hope to visit someday to see if it's there. Thank you for your time. Please send any information that you might have to me at abarca1019@aol.com or visit my website: www.armandoabarca.com Thanks again. Sincerely, Armando Abarca Notify Administrator about this message?
